Where would you like to stay—at the Retreat or the Hideaway?
Two hotels. One resort. Stay at one but experience both: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and take advantage of unlimited access to the first-class amenities available at both the Ultra-Luxury Retreat and the Luxury Hideaway.
Ultra-Luxury Retreat
The Luxury of Space & Privacy
Opened in 2015, the Retreat is situated on a secluded hillside, 150 meters west of the Hideaway. During the G7 summits in 2015 and 2022, the property served as a residence for heads of state and government.
The retreat features 47 exceptionally spacious rooms and suites (55–200 m²), all equipped with silent, inductive cooling. It also offers an adults-only spa with a Japanese onsen, a family spa, a fitness center, a yoga pavilion, a library lounge, and four restaurants serving Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine. In every room, the cosmopolitan interior and lighting design artfully combines Asian lightness, timeless Italian elegance, and fine, natural materials from around the world with breathtaking views of the Wetterstein Mountains and the rushing Ferchenbach stream.
The Retreat is the perfect choice for guests who appreciate a hotel that is both intimate and vast—nestled in a dreamlike setting where they can completely unwind and experience unspoiled nature. Guests at the Retreat also have access to all the amenities of the Hideaway.
The Hideaway
The Luxury of Space and Possibilities
Built in 1916, this historic retreat—a designated historic landmark—was largely destroyed by a major fire in 2005. It was rebuilt in 2007 on a grander scale and reopened as a Luxury Spa & Cultural Hideaway and a proud member of Leading Hotels of the World.
The resort offers countless opportunities to meet interesting people from all over the world or simply to unwind completely. It features 100 spacious rooms and suites (25 to 110 m²), two adult-only spas, two family-friendly spas, a TCM Medical Spa, a Jivamukti Yoga Center, a sports center, a fitness studio, a tea lounge, and a jazz piano bar. The property also includes a concert hall, a bookstore, two libraries, and five restaurants, including the two-Michelin-starred French-Japanese fusion restaurant Ikigai.
Artists particularly appreciate the Hideaway for its proximity to the concert hall, while families love the easy access to the family restaurant, the family tea lounge, the Kids Club, and the family spa. With the exception of breakfast, guests at the Hideaway are welcome to enjoy all the amenities of the Retreat.
